Grilled Camembert

Grilled Camembert Cheese

I really love cheese and I eat pretty much every type of cheese there is. This was just one of the many reasons I love living in Switzerland; we have so many more cheeses to choose from, even in just a regular grocery store never mind a fancy cheese store. Lately, I’ve been seeing so many delicious recipes for grilled brie that I got a craving for it. Unfortunately, we didn’t find any brie in the grocery store (or maybe we did and just didn’t recognize it), so we ended up with camembert instead.

I have never grilled brie or any cheese before and was a little nervous about how it would turn out, especially since I was making grilled camembert instead of grilled brie. It was very easy and very tasty and I can’t believe we haven’t tried it before now! It was especially delicious with crackers and peach jam.

If you don’t have a grill (or if its too cold out to grill), you can also use a George Foreman grill or a panini press.

Grilled Camembert

  • 1 round of camembert cheese

  1. Unwrap the camembert (leave the waxy skin on the cheese) and place it directly onto a hot grill.
  2. Cook for about 5 or 6 minutes. Be careful not to overcook or it will explode. The cheese is done when it feels warm to the touch.
  3. Remove from grill and serve immediately.

    • Terri, I agree that its always fun to learn things about other places and countries! I’m pretty sure you can find camembert in the US, I think it just really depends on where you go. I’m almost positive I saw some at Whole Foods when I popped in while visiting family. I hope you give this recipe a try!

  3. This sounds amazing!!! My husband and I lived in France for awhile and ate tons of Camembert!! It’s still been really hot here, so I definitely want to throw this on the grill soon. I bet it’s so yummy! Thanks for sharing this, pinning now!

    • Hi Diana, its not so common in the US, but you can find it at some places. I used it exactly because its so similar to brie (since I was craving grilled brie), its just a bit stronger in flavor and odor than brie. Thanks for hosting the Pin Me Link party and for stopping by.
