Visited UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Some of you may have heard of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

In 1994, the World Heritage Committee launched the Global Strategy for a Representative, Balanced and Credible World Heritage List. Its aim is to ensure that the List reflects the world’s cultural and natural diversity of outstanding universal value. (source)

UNESCO chooses sites based on 10 criteria and you can see the full list of sites at http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/. Basically, these are really important places to human culture/heritage and as I travel around the world, I always enjoy stopping at places on the UNESCO list. Some folks make it a goal to visit as many of these sites as they can. Gary over at Everything Everywhere travel blog has visited quite a large number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
